Production of the first Land Rover Defender variant began for the 1984 model year as the Land Rover OneTen, a name which reflected the 110-inch (2,800 mm) length of the wheelbase. These were presented as the succesors of the succesful Land Rover Series III 109's, and as with the Land Rover Ninety, presented a series of upgrades and improvements, even though superficially, there is little to distinguish the post-1983 vehicles from their predecesors.
