The Defender 90 was the successor of the previous Land Rover Ninety, and as its predecesor, represented the SWB variant of the Land Rover Defender L316. It was also offered in the same four versions as the Ninety: Hard-Top (Utility), Station Wagon, Single-Cab Pickup and Soft Top. The L316 was also available as the 90 NAS Hard Top and 90 NAS Soft Top for the North American and Canadian market, .
