The Jeep Wagoneer SJ was the first generation of the Jeep Wagoneer to be produced. Introduced for the 1963 model year, the SJ Wagoneer is considered to be one of the first mass-production SUVs offered. These cars were available in rear wheel drive, but the majority were built in four wheel drive configuration. The most notable variants of the SJ were the Wagoneer (Base), Limited, Grand Wagoneer, and the Final Edition. Production of the SJ generation of Wagoneer ended in 1991, and it would be nearly three decades before the Wagoneer name would be reborn as the next generation WS Jeep Wagoneer.
