The Jaguar XKR was a performance focused variant of the 1st Gen XK that debuted for the 1999 model year. The R version featured a supercharged variation of the same 4.0L V8 found in XK8, but now boosting a proper 370hp paired to an automatic five-speed gearbox. In order to slow down those extra hp’s, it had bigger brakes and a sportier suspension in order to improve the performance. For the 2003 model year, it received a mechanical upgrade with an enlarged engine to 4.2L still supercharged boasting 400hp and mated to a ZF six-speed automatic transmission. The 1st Gen XKR was eventually replaced by the 2nd Gen Jaguar XKR.
