The second generation Jaguar XJ was introduced for the 1974 model year. Known as the Series 2, the second generation of XJ featured a range of inline six engines, as well as one V12 option. Largely built as luxury sedans, the Series 2 is the only generation of Jaguar XJ to feature a coupe variant, known as the XJ-C. Notable variants include the XJS, Vanden Plas, and Double Six. The Series 2 was in production until 1979 and was replaced by the Jaguar XJ Series 3.
