Hupmobile was an automobile built from 1909 through 1939 by the Hupp Motor Car Company of Detroit. The prototype was developed in 1908 and had its first successful run on November 8. The company was incorporated in November of that year. The first Hupmobile model, the Hupp 20, was introduced at the 1909 Detroit automobile show. After the introduction of several notable models, sales and production began to fall even before the depression in 1930. With Hupmobile's low production volume, the result was that no model could be produced in sufficient quantity to achieve economy of scale, and the company would eventually cease production in 1939.
