The first evolution of the Honda NSX is known as the NA1. Introduced as part of the 1st Gen Honda NSX, the NA1 was available in both a coupe or targa-topped body style, with a mid-mounted 3.0L V6 engine that drove the rear wheels. These highly capable sports cars were lauded for their handling, which benefitted greatly from the developmental input of various race car drivers including the famed F1 driver Ayrton Senna. Three variants of the NA1 NSX were built, the Coupe, targa NSX-T, and the revered Type R. Production of the NA1 Honda NSX lasted until 1998, when it was replaced wth the updated NA2 Honda NSX.
