The Honda Integra Type R was a high performance variant of the 3rd Gen Honda Integra. Introduced for the 1996 model year in Japan, the Integra Type R featured a raft of improvements over standard variants, such as a strengthened chassis, lighter weight, and significant tuning to the drivetrain. These cars were powered by the B18C engine, which was a 1.8L inline four powerplant that ranged in output from 197hp to 187hp depending on the market. Both liftback coupe and sedan body styles were available for the Type R, but Japanese market vehicles were given a sleeker look to the front end due to the reception of the controversial quad-headlight design that was used for the first years of production in Japan (All non-Japanese market Type Rs were built with the quad-headlight design). Production of the 3rd Gen Honda Integra Type R ended in 2001, but the variant would return for the 4th Gen Honda Integra.
