The GMC Jimmy was a series of full size SUVs introduced for the 1970 model year. The Jimmy was an upmarket version of the Chevrolet K5 Blazer, and was available in two or four wheel drive configurations. While the Jimmy was a full size SUV, the concept around the vehicle was to offer a shortbed pickup with ample interior space and luxuries. Until 1975, Jimmys were offered with a full removable hardtop, but starting in 1976, a half-cab design was utilized. Over the course of production, a range of naturally aspirated inline six and V8 engines were available on both the First Generation (1970-1972) and Second Generation (1973-1991). The GMC Jimmy was built until 1991, when it was replaced by the GMC Yukon.
