The fifth generation of Ford Ranchero debuted for the 1970 model year. This generation of Ranchero shared numerous components and styling with the Ford Torino, but while maintaining its distinct coupe utility (pickup) body style. The standard engine was a 250ci inline six, but a wide range of V8 options were offered. These V8s included a 302, two 351, and three 429 units. Most notable were the 429ci V8s, which were available with optional Ram Air induction. Manual or automatic transmission options sent drive to the rear wheels. Notable variants offered included the GT and Squire. Production of the 5th Gen Ranchero ended in 1971, when it was replaced by the 6th Gen Ford Ranchero.
