The fourth generation of Ford Mustang was unveiled for the 1994 model year. Built on an updated Third Generation Mustang Fox platform, the fourth generation Mustang saw a complete restyling as well as the dropping of the liftback body style. Two evolutions were produced and are described by chassis codes SN-95 (1994-1998) and SN-99 (1999-2004). Only convertibles and fastback coupes were available, as well as a wide range of V6 and V8 engines. Notable performance variants included the GT and SVT Cobra R, which was offered for two separate years: 1995 SVT Cobra R and the 2000 SVT Cobra R. The lesser variant to the Cobra R was the SVT Cobra, which was also built in two main evolutions: SN-95 SVT Cobra and the updated SN-99 SVT Cobra. Special edition variants included a Bullitt and Mach 1. Production of the Fourth Generation Mustang lasted until 2004 when the Fifth Generation Ford Mustang was unveiled.
