The Boss 429 was a high performance variant available for the 1969-1970 First Generation Ford Mustang. The Boss 429 was introduced for the 1969 model year alongside its smaller brother, the Boss 302. These two performance variants were created in order for Ford to introduce two new engines for their motorsports endeavors. The Boss 429 was fitted with a 429 cubic inch (7.0L) V8 engine designed for use in NASCAR, while the Boss 302 was created for Trans-Am racing. These cars were built by Kar Kraft, which was a Ford exclusive tuner and builder who had developed the Le Mans winning GT40s. A total of 1,356 examples of the Boss 429 were built (1969 - 857 / 1970 - 499) before the end of production. The Boss 429 combines rarity with one of the most revered American engines, making it a highly sought after collector car.
