The second evolution of the First Generation Ford Mustang was introduced for the 1967 model year. The 1967-1968 First Generation Ford Mustang saw a range of updates and styling changes that saw the model increase in size and gain new engine options, including the addition of a big block V8. While the main offerings were still the Base Model Mustang and Mustang GT, notable new variants were introduced, such as the California Special, and drag racing special Cobra Jet Lightweight. The 1967-1968 Mustang featured improvements that included reworked suspension and steering, making the car a more capable and comfortable machine. Automatic and manual transmission options were offered, all of which sent drive to the rear wheels. Due to the popularity of the Mustang, these cars were often turned into Race Cars, or were used as the base for Custom creations. The 1967-1968 Ford Mustang ended production in 1968 when it was replaced by the new 1969-1970 First Generation Ford Mustang.
