The second generation of the Ford Fiesta, known as the Mk2, was introduced for the 1984 model year (Although not offered in North America). The Mk2 Fiesta was largely a restyled version of the previous generation, and it was mainly built in a 2 door hatchback body style, but some panel van versions that were very similar to the hatchbacks but without the rear quarter windows were available. These cars were powered by a selection of inline four engines, ranging from 950cc to 1.6L in displacement. Notable variants included the Popular, the Ghia, and the sporty XR2. Production of the Mk2 Fiesta ended in 1989, when it was replaced by the Mk3 Ford Fiesta.
