The fifth generation of Ford Fairlane was introduced for the 1966 model year. The fifth generation saw revised styling that echoes the stacked front headlight design of the full-size models. A range of body styles were offered, including two door hardtop, convertible, and sedan. New trim levels were introduced for this generation, such as the XL, GT, and GTA. A standard 3.3L inline six engine was used, but a 4.8L, 6.4L, or 7.0L V8 unit was optional. Production of the fifth generation continued until 1967, when it was replaced by Sixth Generation Ford Fairlane.
