The first-generation of the Ford F-Series was a series of trucks that was produced by Ford in North America from 1948 to 1952. While trailing the Chevrolet Advance Design trucks by a year, the introduction of the F-Series marked the divergence of Ford car and truck design, developing a chassis intended specifically for truck use. The F-Series was sold in eight different weight ratings, with pickup, panel truck, cab-over engine (COE), conventional truck, and school bus chassis body styles. Although on the same platform the 1951 F-Series recieved styling and drivetrain updates. The F-1 pickup (often mislabled as F100) is the most popular from a collectors standpoint. Production of the first generation F-Series ended in 1952 with the introduction of the Second Generation Ford F-Series.
