The fifth generation of the Ford Escort debuted in late 1990. Known as the Mk5, the fifth generation Escort was offered in coupe, sedan, station wagon, and convertible body styles. These cars featured a range of gasoline inline four engines that ranged from 1.3L to 2.0L in displacement, as well as a few diesel options as well. Alongside many Standard Variants, the more notable Mk5 variants were the RS2000 and revered RS Cosworth. Production of the Mk5 Escort lasted until 1997, but the Mk6 Ford Escort was introduced in 1995.
