The Ferrari 348 tb (Transversale Berlinetta) coupé, along with its sibling, the targa-topped 348 ts (Transversale Spider), featured a naturally aspirated 3.4-litre V8 engine. The engine, which had a power output of 296 hp (221 kW; 300 ps), was mounted longitudinally and coupled to a transverse manual gearbox, like the Mondial t with which the 348 shared many components. The "t" in the model "tb" refers to the transverse position of the gearbox. A total of 2,894 examples of the Ferrari 348 tb were produced between 1989 and 1993. The 348 tb was replaced by the Ferrari 348 GTB in 1993.
