The second generation Dodge Ram debuted in 1994. The "New Dodge" Ram featured "Big Rig" looks and new model variant naming based on tonnage. Three levels, the 1500, 2500, and 3500 were built. Four-wheel-drive and a variety of V8 or V6 engines were available, as were a V10 and a 5.9L Cummins diesel. Extended cabs and two different bed lengths made the new Rams highly customizable from the showroom. The 1500 was the 1/2 ton model or base of the three that could be ordered with a variety of engines.
