De Tomaso Automobili was an Italian automotive manufacturer that was founded in 1959. Established by Alejandro De Tomaso, the company first entered the automotive world creating various prototype race cars, even including a Formula One car. This experience in building high performance race cars eventually transferred into road vehicles, with notable sports cars such as the Pantera and the Mangusta. In addition to sportier cars, De Tomaso also manufactured a few luxury vehicles such as the Deauville and Longchamp. While the company had a period of success in the '60s and '70s, financial problems eventually lead to decreased production, with operations finally ending in 2004, although there have been various attempts at reviving the brand.
