The fourth generation Chrysler New Yorker was introduced for the 1955 model year, and was offered in a variety of body styles including convertible, sedan, two door hardtop, and Town & Country station wagon. All fourth generation models were powered by a 5.8L V8 engine, and featured updated styling influenced by Virgil Exner. The base model was known as the Deluxe, while higher trim levels included the Newport and St. Regis. Production of the fourth generation New Yorker lasted only two years before it was replaced by the Fifth Generation Chrysler New Yorker.
