The sixth and final generation of Chevrolet Monte Carlo was introduced for the 2000 model year. This latest generation saw the front wheel drive model gain more aggressive styling as well as growing in size. A wide range of V6 engines were offered, ranging from 3.4L to 5.3L in displacement. These cars were used as the basis for a wide range of stock car racing, including NASCAR, where it was very successful. Due to this success, a number of Signature Editions named for racing drivers such as Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Production of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo ended in 2007.
