The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was a performance variant for the C6 Corvette that debuted for the 2006 model year. The standard, or Base Model Z06 was only available in a coupe body style and it was powered by Chevrolet's hand built LS7 engine. The LS7 was a 7.0L naturally aspirated V8 with an output of 505hp that drove the rear wheels through a 6 speed manual transmission. The Z06 also featured a range of weight saving measures, such as the use of aluminum and carbon fiber, which was used for the front fenders. Production of the C6 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Base Model lasted until 2013.
