The 327/340 Corvette was a variant of the C2 Chevrolet Corvette and debuted in 1963. They were offered in a two-seat coupe or convertible body style. The coupe was a one-year-only body style that featured a "split" back window. This Corvette variant's name is distinguished by engine option code 'L76' identifying the 327 cu in. (5.4L) small-block V8 that produced 340hp. Customers could choose from a three or four-speed manual and even a two-speed automatic transmission. About 80% of Corvettes were ordered with the four-speed in 1963. All 340hp are sent to the rear independently suspended wheels.
