The Chevrolet Chevelle was a series of mid-size cars introduced for the 1964 model year. The first generation Chevelle was a new mid-size model created to fill a growning demand for smaller cars. The Chevelle was available in a variety of body styles including hardtop, sedan, coupe, convertible, station wagon, and coupe utility (sold as the El Camino). The top trim offering was known as the Malibu, and a wide range of inline six and V8 engines were available. Production of the first generation Chevelle lasted until 1967, and the model was replaced by the Second Generation Chevrolet Chevelle.
