The third generation Chevrolet Camaro Z28 was introduced for the 1982 model year. The Z28, as it had been in previous generations, was a performance focused variant of the Third Generation Camaro. A 305ci (5.0L) V8 that produced 145hp was standard, although larger and more powerful units such as the 5.0L V8 L69 'High Output'  were also available, as were manual and automatic transmission options. The Z28 became the entry level for performance in 1985 when the IROC-Z became avaiable, which included more performance options such as improved suspension and higher output engines. Another variant of the Z28 was the Special Service Police unit of the B4C introduced in 1990 as well as the 1LE option. The 3rd Gen Z28 production ended in 1992, with the introduction of the 4th Gen Z28 in 1993.
