The third generation of Chevrolet Camaro was introduced for the 1982 model year. This latest generation of Camaro saw a wide range of firsts for the model, such as four speed automatics, five speed manuals, fuel injection, and four cylinder engines. A new liftback coupe body style was offered, and starting in 1987, the convertible was reintroduced, although it was converted in limited numbers by third party companies prior. On top of the base model, trims such as the Berlinetta, LT, Sport Coupe, and RS were available over the course of production, but the most notable variants were the performance focused Z28,  IROC-Z, and 1LE. Production of the third generation Camaro continued until 1992, when it was replaced by the Fourth Generation Chevrolet Camaro.
