The Base Model, or standard offering for the 2nd Gen Buick Riviera debuted for the 1966 model year. These personal luxury cars were only built in a coupe body style, with a V8 engine sending power to the rear wheels through a 3 speed automatic transmission. For 1966, a 425ci V8 was the only engine, while from 1967 until 1969, a 430ci V8 was the only engine offered. For 1970, the final year of production, a 455ci V8 powered the 2nd Gen Riviera, which was replaced by the 3rd Gen Buick Riviera.
