The Base Model for the BMW Z3 Roadster was introduced for the 1996 model year. These cars were powered by a range of engine options that included inline four and inline six powerplants ranging from 1.8L to 3.0L in displacement. Transmission options included a 4 and 5 speed automatic, as well as a 5 speed manual, with all options sending drive to the rear wheels. Production of the Base Model BMW Z3 Roadster ended in 2002 when BMW replaced the Z3 with the BMW Z4.
