The second generation of BMW X5 was introduced for the 2007 model year. Known as the E70, the second generation X5 featured updates styling as well as a new interior. Available exclusively in four wheel drive, the E70 was powered by a variety of inline six and V8 engines. The E70 featured the first X5 M, which was the first all-wheel drive vehicle tuned by BMW M. Other variants included the 3.0Si, 4.8i, xDrive30i, xDrive35i, xDrive35d, xDrive48i, and xDrive50i. Built until 2013, the E70 was replaced by the F15 BMW X5 for the 2014 model year.
