The BMW 850CSi was the top of the range model for the first generation 8 Series. Introduced for the 1993 model year, the 850CSi was built by BMW Motorsport and featured an M-tuned V12 engine. This engine was based on the famous BMW M70 V12 engine, yet tuned to such an extent that the engine received its own name, the S70. This 5.6L V12 engine produced a power output of 375hp and 406 lb ft of torque that was sent to the rear wheels via a 6 speed manual transmission. While not named as an M-model, the 850CSi is considered to be an M-model as it was built by the motorsport division. Just 1,510 examples of the BMW 850CSi were built before the end of production in 1996.
