The BMW M4 GTS was a high performance version of the F82 BMW M4 that was only offered for the 2016 model year. The M4 GTS was developed to be the top performing M4 variant, and it featured a range of improvements over the Base Model M4, such as upgraded suspension, various weight-saving measures, and a more powerful engine. The S55 engine found in the standard M4 was tuned to generate 493hp, largely through the greater boost pressure available due to the use of water-injection for cooling. This unique engine sent drive to the rear wheels through a 7 speed DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission. Although only 700 examples of the F82 BMW M4 GTS were due to be created, a total of 803 were actually produced.
