The BMW M3 Evolution was a UK-market version of the E36 BMW M3. Introduced for the 1996 model year, the M3 Evolution was mechanically the same as the Eurpean-spec M3, but the use of the Evolution name was to emphasize the 1996 model year updates to the M3. Offered in coupe, sedan, and convertible body styles, the M3 Evolution was powered by BMW's 3.2L S50 inline six engine, which was paired to a 6 speed manual or an automatic transmission to send drive to the rear wheels. Production of the E36 BMW M3 Evolution ended in 1999.
