BMW introduced their Motorsport version of the 2 Series in 2016. The M2 is known internally at BMW as the F87 due to its unique chassis, yet is still categorized under the F22 2 Series family. Available only as a coupe, the M2 was powered by a turbocharged 3.0L inline six engine that was paired to a 6 speed manual or 7 speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Four main variants were offered, the Base Model, Performance Edition, Competition, and CS. Production of the F22 BMW M2 ended in 2021.
