The BMW 2002tii Coupe was a variant of the BMW 2002 that debuted for the 1972 model year. The 2002tii replaced the BMW 2002ti as the most powerful 02 Series car offered, and was equipped with BMW's M15 engine. The M15 engine, which was also known as the tii engine, was a 2.0L inline four that had an output of 130hp and was fitted with mechanical fuel injection. This engine was sold as standard with a 4 speed manual transmission, but a 5 speed manual was available as an option, with both transmissions sending drive to the rear wheels. Production of the BMW 2002tii Coupe ended in 1975, with a total of 38,703 examples built.
