The Base, or standard version of the Audi Quattro was introduced in 1980. Available exclusively in a coupe body style, the Quattro (sometimes referred to as the Ur-Quattro) was noted for its all wheel drive capabilities, which saw it attain great success as a Race Car. Three main evolutions of the Quattro were built, with each evolution based on the engine. The first version of the Quattro, also known as the WR, was powered by a 10-valve 2.1L turbocharged inline five engine. The second version, known as the MB, featured a 10-valve 2.2L turbocharged inline five. The final version, known as the RR or 20V, was powered by a 20-valve 2.2L turbocharged inline five engine. All of these engines were paired to a 5 speed manual transmission. Production of the Audi Quattro ended in 1991.
