The Third Generation of Audi A3 was introduced for the 2013 model year. The 3rd Gen saw the notable debut of the new A3 "e-tron" with combined gas and electric motors. In addition to the “e-tron,” Audi also introduced a sedan body style for the first time. The performance-focused S3 and RS3 were the most notable variants.  Three, four, and five-cylinder inline engines were available as well as a diesel. Production of the 3rd Gen Audi A3 ended in 2020, being replaced by the Fourth Generation Audi A3.
