The Ariel Atom is a lightweight sports car first introduced in 2000. The Atom is a high performance open car with an emphasis on lightweight construction. The Atom features an exposed chassis that resembles an exoskeleton, and is fitted with minimal body work. The Atom has been built with a variety of engines, including a 500hp V8 engine in the Atom 500. The Atom was first available in the North American market starting in late 2005.
