The AMC AMX was a series of two seat muscle cars introduced in 1968. While the AMX was considered to be a muscle car, it was shorter than most, leading it to be compared with the only other short wheelbase two seater around at the time, the Chevrolet Corvette. The AMX was offered exclusively as a two seat coupe, and was available with a wide range of naturally aspirated V8 engines. Sales of the AMC AMX were not as high as desired, leading to AMC discontinuing the model 1972, and moving the 'AMX' badging to the AMC Javelin.
